Modular Sci-Fi Environment Assets

These Modular assets were made during a 48-hour Game Jam in March of 2025, hosted by IGDA Clark at Clark University.

The theme/prompt to go off of was “Breakthrough,” and this marked my 6th game jam thus far. Our team’s game, Bzorg Out," ended up winning the "Best Overall" award.

--- My Contribution – 3D Environment Art ---

As the sole 3D Artist, I was responsible for creating all of the 3D environmental assets. Since I was tasked with making the entire environment, I decided to go with a modular approach to make it easier for our level designer. Despite the time constraints, I developed a full set of low-poly assets that ended up being detailed enough and visually fitting for our game.

Assets Created:
- 4 walls (default, door, breakable, destroyed)
- Wall pillar connector
- Ceiling
- 2 floor tiles
- Test tube pods (default & broken)
- Laser gate
- Various pieces of wall debris

Team Roles:
- Ryan Kattau – 3D Artist
- Bianca Brezinsky – 2D Artist & UI/UX
- Nicholas Lyons – Programmer
- Nicolas Fasano – Level Designer
- Sammi Bosque – SFX, Music, UI/UX

The short deadline made this a very intensive modeling challenge that I’ve now successfully undertaken, and I feel like it has definitely improved my ability to work efficiently under pressure, while still maintaining a high standard of quality.

--- Taking it Further ---

Our game was originally intended to be made for Unity, and it was. After the game jam however, I decided to update some of the modular assets afterwards, and I imported them to Unreal Engine 5 to do a a couple renders of them in that engine to see what they look like.
